This peanut butter smoothie blends almond milk, protein powder, peanut butter and ice. It’s thick and creamy.
Ingredients for the peanut butter protein smoothie
To make the smoothie, you will need the following ingredients:
- 5 to 6 ice cubes
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional, for flavour)
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (unsweetened, if you prefer)
- 1 scoop of your favourite protein powder (whey or plant-based)
- 1 cup of almond milk (sweetened or unsweetened)
- A dash of water (to adjust the consistency)
Contains peanuts and almonds. Use a dairy-free protein powder if needed.
Tools required:
- Measuring spoons
- A blender
- A measuring jug for the liquids
- A tall glass or container for serving

Step-by-step preparation
Step 1: Combine the liquids
Start by adding the almond milk and water to the blender. The almond milk is the base of the smoothie, while the water adjusts the consistency. Mix these liquids well before adding the solid ingredients.
Step 2: Add the peanut butter and protein powder
Next, add the peanut butter and protein powder to the blender. Peanut butter gives the smoothie its rich, creamy texture and flavour, while the protein powder thickens it. Use your preferred protein powder, whether it’s whey or plant-based.
Step 3: Add ice and cinnamon (optional)
For a chilled smoothie, add 5 to 6 ice cubes to the blender. If you like a hint of spice, add a pinch of cinnamon. Cinnamon adds warmth.
Step 4: Blend
Close the lid of the blender firmly and hold it down gently with your hand so it stays in place. Start blending at a low speed. As the ice breaks down, increase the speed until everything combines into a smooth, creamy consistency. The smoothie is ready when it’s like a milkshake: not too watery, but thick and smooth.
Step 5: Serve
Pour the smoothie into a tall glass. For extra flair, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a few crushed peanuts. Serve straight away.

Tips
- Adjust the consistency: for a thicker smoothie, add more ice or protein powder. For a thinner one, add more almond milk or water.
- Customise the flavours: try adding ingredients like bananas, chocolate powder or vanilla extract to make the smoothie your own.
- Sweetened or unsweetened almond milk: use sweetened almond milk for a sweeter taste, or unsweetened for a more neutral flavour.
- Storage: to make the smoothie in advance, store it in the fridge for a few hours. It may thicken slightly, so add a little more water or almond milk before drinking.
- Flavour variations: add other ingredients like chia seeds, flaxseeds or a tablespoon of honey for extra sweetness.
