Coffee at Home and What to Check on a CBD Oil Label

This page gives a simple three-step method for coffee at home, and what to look for on a CBD oil label if you take CBD separately.

Should I add CBD oil to my coffee?

We don’t include it here. This method makes plain coffee. If you take a CBD oil, follow the directions on your oil’s label, separately from your coffee, and count all the CBD you have that day. The note further down covers the rest.

What you need

  • Freshly brewed coffee, made any way you like
  • Milk or a plant drink (optional)

Method

  1. Brew the coffee.
  2. Let it cool for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add milk if you like.

A note on CBD oil

This recipe doesn’t use CBD oil. If you take a CBD oil, follow the directions on its own label, and don’t convert drops into millilitres. If anything on the label is unclear, contact us before use.

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to limit CBD consumption to no more than 10mg a day.

Count all the CBD you have that day, from every product.

CBD isn’t suitable for under-18s, or if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. If you take any medication, don’t use CBD unless a doctor has advised it. The FSA’s CBD safety advice explains who should avoid CBD.

CBD food products in the UK must meet the Food Standards Agency’s novel food rules. Read more in our CBD law in the UK guide.

What to check on a CBD oil label

  • Strength per serving: the label should show the CBD in one serving and in the whole bottle.
  • Ingredients: check the carrier oil, any flavouring and the allergen information.
  • Batch lab report: check the brand publishes a batch lab report for each batch, and that the batch number on your bottle matches one you can read.
  • THC result: the batch report should list the result for THC and the other controlled cannabinoids.
