Amber CBD oil dropper bottles in different sizes on a marble surface

CBD oil is a drop or tincture food-supplement format for adults who prefer to measure from a bottle rather than take capsules or gummies. On this page you can compare CBD Armour’s oils by strength, spectrum, carrier oil and flavour, check the label and batch lab report, and choose the bottle that fits your routine. These are lab-tested retail CBD products, not medicines, and we don’t make medical claims.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is cannabidiol (CBD) extracted from hemp and mixed into a carrier oil. It’s sold in a dropper bottle so you can measure it. You’ll also see it called CBD drops, CBD tincture or cannabidiol oil, and in UK shops these names usually mean the same format. Our oils come in two lines:

  • Raw & Original: full-spectrum hemp extract in hemp seed oil, unflavoured.
  • Cool & Fresh: broad-spectrum hemp extract in MCT oil, with peppermint flavouring.

In the UK, CBD oil is sold as a food supplement for adults. It isn’t a medicine and isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. CBD isn’t suitable for under-18s. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, take regular medicine or manage a health condition, speak to a pharmacist or doctor before use. “Hemp oil” can also mean plain hemp seed oil, which isn’t the same as a CBD extract, so check that the label states the amount of CBD.

How do CBD drops compare to capsules and gummies?

All three formats contain CBD. The differences are practical: how you take them, how they taste and how the amount is shown on the label.

  • CBD oil and drops: you measure from a dropper, and the label states the CBD content. You can taste the oil (earthy for Raw & Original, mint for Cool & Fresh).
  • CBD capsules UK: a set amount per capsule, swallowed with water, with no taste.
  • CBD gummies UK: a set amount per chewable piece, with sugars and other food ingredients.

No format is automatically better than another. The right choice comes down to how you prefer to take a food supplement, the ingredients you want to avoid and what’s in stock. Capsule and gummy availability is shown on those ranges.

What strength should I look for on the label?

Two numbers matter on a CBD oil label:

  1. The percentage (5%, 10% or 30%) describes concentration: how much CBD is in the oil.
  2. The total milligrams (for example 1000mg) is the CBD in the whole bottle. A bigger bottle at the same percentage has more mg in total, but each ml has the same concentration.

For example, our Full Spectrum CBD Oil 10% – Raw & Original comes as 10ml (1000mg) or 30ml (3000mg). Both are 10%. The 30% oils hold 3000mg of CBD. “High strength” or “strongest CBD oil” only tells you about concentration. A higher percentage isn’t the right starting point for everyone.

Follow the directions on your label. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to keep total CBD from food supplements to no more than 10 mg a day. This is general safety advice, not a personal dose. Don’t estimate a serving by converting drops to millilitres. If the serving information is unclear, contact us before use. Our guide to comparing 5%, 10% and 30% CBD oil goes into more detail.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum and isolate: plain language

  • Full spectrum extract keeps a wider range of the hemp plant’s naturally occurring compounds, which can include trace controlled cannabinoids within legal limits. Our Raw & Original oils are labelled full spectrum.
  • Broad spectrum extract is processed further to remove THC while keeping other compounds. Our Cool & Fresh oils are labelled broad spectrum. If you’re looking for a “THC-free CBD oil”, read the controlled-cannabinoid results on the batch lab report rather than relying on a label phrase alone.
  • CBD isolate is CBD on its own, with the other plant compounds removed. We don’t currently list an isolate oil.

The spectrum describes what’s in the extract. It isn’t a measure of quality or of any effect. The carrier oil also differs: hemp seed oil in Raw & Original, and MCT oil in Cool & Fresh. MCT is usually coconut-derived, so check the allergen information. See how carrier oils differ.

Organic CBD oil: what “organic” means on a label

In the UK, “organic” on a food product should be backed by certification from an approved control body, shown on the label with that body’s name or code. “Natural”, “pure” or “plant-based” aren’t the same. If organic sourcing matters, check the certifier on the label or ask the seller. “Pure CBD oil” alone doesn’t tell you spectrum, strength or certification — the label and lab report do. More detail: organic CBD oil UK label guide.

Lab testing and batch information

CBD Armour publishes a batch lab report (certificate of analysis, or CoA) for each oil strength in both lines. The reports show cannabinoid analysis and physical checks for the sample they identify. To check yours, match the product name, strength and batch code on your bottle to the report, then look at the analysis date and the tests actually listed. If your batch code doesn’t match, ask us for the matching report. See how to read a certificate of analysis.

A CoA is a quality and transparency document. It confirms what was measured in a sample. It isn’t evidence that a product has any health effect.

FSA register: the FSA public list shows three CBD Armour Raw & Original unflavoured tinctures (1000mg/10ml, 3000mg/10ml and 3000mg/30ml) under application RP-438 with status Validated. A validated application is a step in the novel-food process. It isn’t full authorisation or FSA approval, and it doesn’t cover the rest of the range.

How to choose CBD oil in the UK

People often search for the “best CBD oil UK”, but “best” means little without a clear way to compare. Check for:

  • Clear labelling: percentage, total mg, bottle size, spectrum, carrier oil and directions.
  • Batch transparency: a published CoA matched to your batch code.
  • Full ingredients and allergens on the label and product page.
  • Food-supplement framing: sold for adults, with no promises to treat or cure anything.
  • A seller you can contact about the label — CBD Armour has sold CBD in the UK since 2017 from Birmingham.
  • Price per mg as well as the bottle price.
