CBD Strength & Serving Labels UK: How to Read Your Product

This guide explains how to read CBD strength and serving information on UK product labels. It does not
recommend CBD for anxiety, sleep problems, pain, inflammation, or any other medical condition. CBD Armour sells food supplements and cosmetics; these are not medicines.

For a short practical checklist, use our primary page: CBD dosage / serving guide.

Understanding CBD serving guidance (fundamentals)

On a pack, “strength” and “serving” usually mean:

  • Total CBD in the container (e.g. 1000 mg per bottle), and/or
  • CBD per labelled serving (e.g. per capsule, per gummy, or per stated oil serving)

Always:

  1. Read the current label on your batch.
  2. Add up CBD from all food supplements/edibles that day.
  3. Follow age, allergen and direction warnings.
  4. Do not invent milligrams from “drops” unless that bottle’s label defines them.

Different formats (oil, capsule, gummy, cosmetic) are not interchangeable “equivalent doses.”

FSA consumer advice (healthy adults)

The Food Standards Agency advises that healthy adults should keep total CBD from food (including food supplements) to no more than 10 mg per day. That provisional acceptable daily intake is expressed for a typical adult of about 70 kg body weight. It is public safety advice, not a brand endorsement and not a personalised medical dose.

  • Prefer products and servings you can reconcile with that advice — or seek clinician guidance before using higher labelled amounts.
  • Official reading: FSA CBD consumer advice.
  • Our product Safety tabs summarise the same 10 mg/day consumer message.

Do not use older “do not exceed 70 mg/day” consumer framing as current FSA advice.

Who should avoid CBD (or ask a doctor first)

Unsuitable for under-18s. People who are
pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive, who are
immunosuppressed, who have an underlying health condition, or who take prescription medicines
should avoid CBD unless a doctor advises otherwise. Do not stop prescribed treatment because of a website article.

The start low and go slow approach

Use this only as a label-literacy habit inside FSA consumer advice — not to “titrate for symptoms.”

  1. Start with the smallest measurable labelled serving.
  2. Keep notes of what you took (product, batch, mg from the label).
  3. Change at most one small step at a time, still within the label and FSA advice for healthy adults unless a clinician directs otherwise.
  4. Stop and seek advice if you feel unwell. More milligrams is not automatically better.

Product potency and concentration (how to do the maths)

Example of label reading only (not a recommendation to take the amount):

  • If a bottle states 1000 mg CBD across 30 equal servings, each serving is about 33 mg CBD on paper — which already exceeds the FSA’s 10 mg/day consumer advice for healthy adults. That is a reason to
check carefully before use, not a reason to “dose up.”
  • Compare % CBD, bottle volume, and
mg per serving; they answer different questions.

Match oils/capsules/gummies on the shop by labelled mg and ingredients: CBD oil, capsules, gummies.

Timing and frequency (general)

Follow the directions on your pack. Cosmetics are not food supplements. We do not publish schedules for treating sleep, anxiety or pain.
