Read the policy before checkout

A seller’s returns page should explain how to cancel, the applicable timeframes, the return address, who pays postage and how refunds are handled. Save the version that applied when ordering. A retailer policy does not remove statutory rights, but those rights and any exceptions depend on the facts.

Different reasons for return

A change-of-mind cancellation is different from reporting goods that are faulty, damaged, unsafe or not as described. Opened food, cosmetics and hygiene-sensitive products may be treated differently, and a broken seal can affect a change-of-mind return. Do not assume either that every opened item must be accepted or that a store policy ends the matter.

Prepare a clear return request

• Keep the order confirmation, product, packaging and delivery label.
• Photograph damage, leakage, the seal, batch code and incorrect goods.
• State the order number, delivery date, issue and outcome requested.
• Use the seller’s published contact route and keep copies of the response.

Do not send a leaking or unsafe item through ordinary post without instructions. Ask the retailer how it should be contained or disposed of.

Get current independent guidance

Make a simple product record

Before contacting the seller, note the full product name, bottle size, stated CBD amount, batch code, best-before date, order number and the date the bottle was opened. Take clear photographs in natural light without editing the colour. Record where the bottle was stored and whether it was exposed to unusual heat, cold, moisture or damage.

This information helps the seller identify the exact batch and avoids comparing different strengths, carrier oils or formulations as though they were identical. Keep the original bottle, closure and outer packaging while the query is being reviewed.

For a fair comparison, keep the format, bottle size, stated CBD amount and ingredient profile consistent. Note differences rather than deciding that one product is better from a single feature. If important information is absent or contradictory, ask the seller before ordering or using the item.

What appearance cannot tell you

Colour, clarity, taste or sediment cannot prove the amount of CBD, the controlled-cannabinoid content or whether a product complies with UK food rules. Do not use home tests, heating, dilution or internet photographs as a substitute for the product label and appropriate batch documentation.

If a product is not suitable for use

Follow the seller’s returns or product-query process and its disposal instructions. Do not pour oil into another bottle, mix it with a replacement or return a leaking item without suitable containment. If an unwanted effect occurs, stop using the product and seek advice from a pharmacist or other appropriate healthcare professional.
